  • Californian scientists at Sorrento Therapeutics said they have found an STI-1499 antibody that completely blocks coronavirus.
  • About two months ago, the Sorrento team started analyzing hundreds of antibodies from their library and found about a dozen that blocked the virus that leads to COVID-19 from infecting human cells. Now, from that dozen, they say they’ve found one that is 100% effective after a period of four days of incubation.
  • Belgium tops the world with the most deaths proportionally to their COVID-19 cases, with an observed case-fatality ratio of 16.4%. And with a population of just 11.5 million, Belgium has the most deaths in terms of its population with 78 deaths per 100,000 people.

Traffic around Klang Valley has increased on my way to and from work today. Things are picking up, people are seen going out and about jogging at public parks. It’s refreshing to see things go back to normal after all these debacle that affects people who doesn’t take care of their health and diet.

  • There is still zero cases that proves infection from treatment of positive patients.
  • Public is skeptical of the easing of MCO with some supporting and some saying it is too early. (Source)
  • Number of new cases in double digits for the 16th day in a row.
  • 3 clusters in Sarawak are from a church in Kuching, a PUI from Italy, and a cluster from Hospital Umum Sarawak. (Source)
  • Another hotel is out of business due to the lockdown. Hotel Ramada Plaza Melaka, a five star hotel has shown zero reception since the MCO. (Source)

  • UK virus death toll up by 4,419 to 26,097 as care home deaths included.

Day 43 MCO CCP Virus COVID-19 Malayia Update

It’s the beginning of MCO Phase 4. Some essential businesses are resuming full operation as the restriction loosens.

  • 1758 Active Cases (currently isolated and in hospitals)
  • A near 3 digit increase of daily new cases.
  • From the 94 new cases reported today, 72 are import cases which are students back from Indonesia.

  • Mah Sing starts to urge government to allow property development to restart. (Source)
  • Government will allow economic sector to start before social and education sectors reopen back to business
  • Government will receive 50k antigen rapid test kits from the South Korea this Friday. Priority will be given to clusters in Sabah and Sarawak as they have larger clusters than those in Peninsular Malaysia.
  • Second batch which has 100k more antigen test kits will arrive from Saturday onwards.
  • 2 biosafety cabinets will be placed in KLIA to screen those who travel in and out of the airport.

GLOBAL UPDATES

  • South Africa has 4996 total confirmed cases, an increase of 203 since yesterday. Today marks one month since the first reported death of COVID-19 in SA. The death toll now stands at 93, an increase of three since yesterday. All of the deaths have occured in the Western Cape. Recoveries are 2073 and tests conducted are 184497.
  • Singapore reports 690 new cases bringing the total to 15641. A total of 5 new cluster were identified as well.

Day 42 MCO 28th April CCP Virus COVID-19 Malaysia Update

It is the supposed final day of the MCO, again.

  • +31 > 5851 Total Confirmed Cases
